- Register with a company such as Experian or Clear Score to get a credit report
- Make sure you are on the electoral register
- Look at seeing whether getting a shared credit card is a good move to improve your credit rating. Always make sure you can afford the monthly repayments with ease. Capital One and Virgin are credit cards you pay in full by direct debit each month so easy to set up and not miss payments.
- Make sure your income exceeds any debt you have. If not start making it a focus to pay off your debt, or reduce it to a manageable minimum to show you are living in excess of what you can afford
